MWANA ASINGACHEME ANOFIRA MU MBEREKO — a Shona saying reminding us that a baby who is never carried close can wither.
We all love to be cuddled, consoled, loved and respected. This happens from a mutual base. Unfortunately, some end up in denial about loving and caring, because they cannot relate to or recognise the feeling that comes with certain emotions.
Sometimes we feel lonely and fail to understand that it’s simply the need of being close to someone we care about. We are already struggling in this world with materialism and communication breakdown — failing marriages or relationships due to not practicing the things above.
Remember when a baby cries for skin-to-skin contact? That need doesn’t change just because someone gets older.
