Looking Back on a Year of Media Attention

Sharing a beautiful memory from 2017, and how proud and grateful I get to feel about it. Despite the babies crying at the nine-months fair who then fell asleep the moment they were tied into the wrap, I noticed how people who got fascinated by that kept spreading the message — and still do.

That’s how I got a phone call from the editorial team of a well-known TV programme. On the day the call came in, I was busy preparing for the talk I had to give at the nine-months fair on “safe babywearing.” The call came from RTL4 and Carlo’s TV Café — one of those moments where you think, wait, is this really happening? And yes, it really was. They wanted to send a camera crew to film the bartender, who was picking out a wrap and other baby essentials for the pregnant head chef.

When the camera crew arrived, I honestly wasn’t quite sure where I stood. Chella Verhoeven showed me my spot — right in the breastfeeding lounge, next to Gonneke Veldhuizen. I got to fill a whole little table with my carrying cloths. We went straight into the interview and preparation for Carlo’s TV, which aired the following Sunday.
