Physical changes: after childbirth, a dramatic drop in hormones (estrogen and progesterone) in your body may contribute to postpartum depression. Other hormones produced by your thyroid gland can also drop sharply, which can leave you feeling tired, sluggish and low.
Emotional issues matter too. When you start carrying your baby properly, you continue bonding — and that in itself is already a healing process.
